Research on the meaning of colours

The meaning of colour?

Colour can change one reaction in one person and a very different reaction in somone else. Sometimes this is due to personal preference, and other times due to cultural background. Since the year 1967 we are use to visual things on screen being in colour. Colours can affect different people, either individually or as a group, as something that some people feel differently about colours and their meanings. When I though of creating a visual short film I thought of full colour staright away, but what meaning and rection does something black and white give us?

Dreaming in Black and White

Black symbolises the unknown, the unconscious, danger, mystery, darkness, death, mourning, rejection, hate or malice. It is a deeper in mind that gains a better understanding of yourself. It can also signify a lack of love and lack of support, but the colour black in a postive responsive can represent potential and possibilities that someone might have.

To dream in black and white, suggests that you might be more objective in formulating your decisions. It could be the the thought process of needing to find a balance between two opposing views or more. Black and White dreams is a sign of depression or sadness. You may feel that there is not enough excitement in your life.

From the research I am going to use colour and black and white video footage because it has the meaning of sadness from gradient colours to strong colours towards the visual meaning of feelings that I want to show in my design desicion towards the reason for implying this technique.
